ENVIRON® SKIN CARE
A prerequisite for a fresher, youthful appearance is healthy, well-cared-for skin. Daily skin care with scientifically proven effective skin products and consistent sun protection are therefore important and simple measures to combat skin aging. This is where Environ’s products come in.
Environ Skin Care has been produced in CapeTown, South Africa, since 1990. The skin care products were developed by Dr. Desmond Fernandes, MD, an experienced plastic surgeon. His goal was to prevent skin aging and the development of skin cancer in the fair-skinned population of South Africa.
Meanwhile, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in humans. In Switzerland, we also live in a country with intensive sun exposure and a particularly high risk of developing skin cancer. Every year, 25,000 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in Switzerland, the highest number of new cases within Europe. Of these, around 2,500 cases are black skin cancer (melanoma). Melanoma is the fourth most common cancer in Switzerland and also affects younger people. For example, a quarter of people diagnosed with melanoma are younger than 50 at the time of diagnosis.
“I wanted to help skin function better than just feeling good in the short term” says Dr. Fernandes, founder of Environ Skin Care. Unlike many other cosmetic products, Environ strives for a scientifically based and sustainable improvement in skin quality, which is why PD Oliver Scheufler, MD, chose to use Environ products at the AARE KLINIK.
SKIN CARE WITH HIGH-DOSE VITAMINS
Skin care products with high-dose vitamins (A, C, E) are essential for daily skin care. Environ Skin Care is to date the world’s only staged vitamin A therapy. Vitamin A is ubiquitous as an elementary building block of cells. With increasing life expectancy, environmental skin problems and skin cancer are becoming more and more apparent. Often, they do not appear until after the age of 40. A child born in Switzerland today has the prospect of living to be over a hundred years old. It therefore makes sense to invest in skin health in good time. Vitamin A plays an important role in this.
VITAMIN DEFICIENCY
Vitamin A deficiency is probably the most widespread vitamin deficiency in the world. Probably most people do not know that they have a chronic vitamin A deficit. The natural vitamin A in the skin is sensitive to light. Therefore, despite sun protection, it is destroyed by UV radiation every day. This accelerates skin aging. Vitamin A in food (oral intake) does help the body to replace the lost vitamin A. The recommended oral dose of vitamin A for the body is between 500 and 50,000 International Units (IU) per day.
However, delivery via the skin (topical uptake) is more targeted for the skin and spares the liver, as oral overdosage of vitamin A can lead to liver damage. Oral administration of vitamin A should also be avoided during pregnancy and lactation, while topical application to the skin is safe, as vitamin A is not transported from the skin into the blood.
SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN PROPERTIES OF VITAMIN A:
- It forms the basis for skin properties (DNA command).
- It organizes the functions of dermis and epidermis.
- It forms the basis for collagen and elastin.
- It controls the moisture balance.
- It forms the basis for the immune system.
- It regulates sebum production and skin oil.
- It regulates pigment distribution.
UNDER THE EFFECT OF VITAMIN A:
- the cornea becomes more compact and elastic and its protective function is optimized.

The law requires that all cosmetics that do not have a shelf life of 30 months must have an expiration date. If no expiration date is indicated, this means that preservatives are used and storage periods longer than 30 months are possible. Environ, on the other hand, uses only fresh goods with a clear declaration of the expiration date.
